Group appeals reparations dismissal |

| Human rights activist group Khulumani International is to appeal against a New York court judgement dismissing an application for reparations from international companies that did business in South Africa during the apartheid era. The appeal will be heard in the Second Circuit Court of Appeal in New York on November 5.

Bodies of missing apartheid victims found |

| The remains of five people who disappeared during apartheid-era political violence will be returned to their families in a ceremony at the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) office in Pretoria on Sunday. "These person's remains have now been formally identified and can be returned to their grieving families. The NPA have been assisted in this task by forensic experts from Argentina," said Khulumani Support Group chairwoman Marjorie Jobson on Thursday.

Absa, Khulumani deny plans to meet |

| Absa bank did not invite the Khulumani Support Group to discuss the multibillion-rand deal between the bank and Barclays, Khulumani said on Monday. "Contrary to news reports, the [Khulumani] group has not been directly contacted by any member of the Absa staff, and nor has its lawyer, Mr Michael Hausfeld of Cohen, Milstein, Hausfeld and Toll," said Marjorie Jobson, chairperson of Khulumani, which campaigns for the cancellation of apartheid-era state debt.

| | A group of elderly Mamelodi mothers have one wish - to confront the man who lured their sons to their deaths in a dark alley. "We want the truth," said Maria Ntuli from her home on Monday. "And the man who knows the truth is Joe Mamasela." Her son, Jeremia Ntuli, 16, and nine other young men, most of whom were teenagers, were killed in 1986 by an apartheid hit squad. |

Anglican Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane has been called in as mediator to facilitate talks between Absa and anti-debt activists Jubilee, which this week started a series of protests against Barclays to demand that it apologise for its dealings with apartheid South Africa. |
