On October 19, 2012, the IJR (Institute for Justice and Reconciliation) Selection Panel announced that the 2012 Reconciliation Award recipient would be Mrs Olga Macingoane, survivor of the 1996 Christmas Eve bombing in Worcester.

Author Alexandra Fuller wrote powerfully about the story of Mam'Olga's meeting with one of the bombers, Stefaans Coetzee in the June 2010 issue of National Geographic. The article was entitled Mandela's Children.

She also wrote in support of the nomination of Mam'Olga for the prize by Khulumani Support Group and the Worcester Hope and Reconciliation Process. Alexandra's powerful letter of motivation is attached.

In a related development the Worcester Hope and Reconcilaition Process has announced that it has awarded its first annual peace award

"...to the Khulumani Support Group for facilitating the meeting between Olga Macingwane and Stefanus Coetzee that served as a catalyst for the establishment of the Worcester Hope and reconciliation process. The award will be presented at our Peace Table event on 9 November. Thank you Khulumani!"
