Together We Give, a locally-based non-profit organisation in Kenhardt in the Northern Cape today launched a Call to Action to name the many issues the community faces and to rally all the residents of Kenhardt to take join together to assert their capacities to be agents for change in their local community.

Khulumani will be partnering Together We Give in an art for psychosocial healing process and hopes to introduce a Men as Community Protectors and PeaceBuilders project in the second quarter of this year.

Khulumani's Forum Theatre Youth have been taking action to try to support Khulumani founder members in Soweto in having their medical needs effectively addressed. 

Some groups of Khulumani men are busy constituting themselves as Khulumani Men for Non-Violence and Peacebuilding to engage other men and young men in a growing movement of men for loving social change and for gender equality.

We are so proud that men stood up in the Khulumani Monthly Meeting in Ekurhuleni last Saturday and shared their pain about what they are witnessing being done to women. They are and have been taking stands. See related article.

The following blog recognises these good men. The questions is asks are questions for all of us to engage in the social groups where we come together.

Gidani,  South Africa's National Lottery Operator, has invited Khulumani to be featured in the coming LIVE LOTTO DRAW this weekend.

The invitation came in response to the Khulumani action at the East Rand / Ekurhuleni Imbizo on February 13.

Khulumani's monthly Gauteng meeting that took place from 10:00 until 15:00 on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Lethukuthula Seconday school in Katlehong took a decision to participate in the ONE BILLION RISING Campaign for ending violence against women.

On January 16, 2013 Khulumani's National Capacity-Building Facilitator, Ms Nomarussia Bonase accompanied by Dr Jobson and Dr Mukhopadhyay, met at the Mvemve Lodge in Newtown, Lusikisiki with some of the widows of the Marikana Massacre to discuss the extent to which their views and needs were being considered by the company that employed their husbands, LONMIN Platinum Mine.

Khulumani will be partnering the Institute for Water Research in developing a National Community Water for Dignity Programme starting in February 2013.

As a participating members of the PAIA (Promotion of Access to information Act) Civil Society Network and a member of the Right to Know National Campaign, Khulumani is saddened by the untimely death of Mr Aaron Swartz, an activist for open access to information as a critical tool for development.

Aaron Swartz was only 26 years old when he took his own life last week after unceasing harassment at the hands of officials in the Unted States.
