Khulumani staff and associates will be presenting two papers at this year’s OHASA National Conference on the theme of “Past Distortions, Present Realities: (Re)construction(s) and (Re)configuration(s) of Oral History.
The first paper co-authored by Roger Layton and Zdena Mtetwa, Khulumani’s former ‘Histories from Below’ Project Officer who is now enrolled for a Masters in International Relations in Europe, has been placed on the panel that focuses on “Pockets of Excellence in Oral History: Recording, Documenting and Archiving: Lessons from the African Continent, the African Diaspora and the World”. The paper is entitled “A Linked Data” Approach to Biographical Documentation: A Case Study of Unsung Struggle Heroes”.
The second paper to be delivered by Dumisane Khumalo, Khulumani’s Disappearances Investigator with Pamela Whitman, Khulumani’s Victim Empowerment Programme Manager, has been placed on the panel on “Struggle Stories and Songs: Experiences from Exile, the Village and Township”.This paper is entitled “Tracing History through Investigations: Stories of the Disappeared”.
Khulumani is proud to be sustaining its involvement in the Oral History Association of South Africa and looks forward to deepening its relationships with these strategic partners.
